Absentee Bidding Instructions

  • Absentee bid sheets must be signed and dated and received in our office by the deadline stated for each auction. Unsigned bid sheets cannot be executed.  Bids not commensurate with the value of the lot(s) bid on, will not be executed. 

  • A 10% buyers’ premium will be added to the hammer price of each lot, to be paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.

  •  Payment shall be made by bank or certified check or accepted credit card. Personal checks may be acceptable if credit has been established prior to the sale.  $15.00 is charged for returned checks.  The auctioneer reserves the right to hold delivery of items purchased by personal check until the check has cleared.

  •  Each winning absentee bidder is responsible for shipping, handling, and insurance charges. Multiple winning bids will be combined to save shipping costs.  There will be a $5.00 minimum for any lots shipped to winning absentee bidders.  Shipping is by USPS.

  •  First time absentee bidders must submit a deposit equal to 20% of their total bids. This deposit will be applied to the total amount due for lots won. Partial refunds will be made if the total amount deposited exceeds the total amount due for items successfully purchased.  Full refunds, minus a $4.00 service charge, will be made if no lots are won. 

  •  Absentee bidders are expected to review their bids for correctness prior to submitting their bid(s).  The auctioneer cannot be responsible for errors in absentee bids.

  •  Successful absentee bidders will be invoiced within 3 days of the sale.  Full payment is due within 7 days of receipt of the invoice.  Failure to pay within 7 days shall constitute default. Late payment will negate return privileges.

  •  All payment must be in U.S. funds.

  •  Payment by guaranteed funds or credit card will result in immediate shipment.

  •  Any item returned by absentee bidders must include a written statement indicating the reason(s) for return. A lot must be returned in its original auction lot holder.

  •  Massachusetts sales tax (5%) will be added to all final sales totals unless the buyer provides evidence of a valid Massachusetts resale certificate/number.
